Despite of being a bit pricey the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 turned out to be an object of desire for many. Now, here we have the IdeaPad Y580 and if you wonder what makes it better, check out this review.
Starting with the design, we notice that it speaks of elegance combined with stability. The aluminium details along the corpus contribute for that. The rest of the laptop is black and is not easy to stain. The exeption comes with the glossy surface around the display. Youβll have to get used to it attracting fingerprints. The Y580 could be called massive thanks to its weight of 2 kg 821 gr. Its dimentions are the following: 385 mm width, 255mm depth and a thickness of 35.7 mm.Β
The display chosen by Lenovo for this model is a 15.6 β Full HD with a resolution of 1920 Ρ 1080 pixels. The viewing angle is wide and the picture really could be called crystal clear. In out opinion this is a great display suitable enough for watching movies and gaming.Β
Above the display we find the HD web cam with 1 MP. The opening mechanism is tight and it did good at our rough testing. On its both sides there are chromatic elements with the inscription JBL β the company that took care of the Dolby Home Theatre V4 Sound of the laptop. There is also a direct One Key Theater II button to stat your individual settings for more clearer sound while listening to music.Β
The keyboard is island-style, and the buttons are soft and quiet with ergonomic shape. Typing in darkness is not an issue considering the available backlighting. The whole keyboard panel is 34 sm wide and 11 sm high, which speaks for itself β thereβs enough space for continuous typing or gaming without getting your wrists tired.Β
The touchpad is located a little bit to the left. Its multitouch and has two buttons with chromic lining and the surface is really nice to the touch.Β
The periphery of the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is as rich as the laptopβs multimedia purpose. It consists of 4 USB ports, two of which are the 10 times faster version 3.0. We also find HDMI and VGA ports, standard 3.5 mm audio and mic jacks and a card reader 6 in 1. There is also the optical device, combining DVD RW with Bluray.Β
As for the hardware, this laptop runs with the quad-core processor Intel Core i7-3610QM. It has 6MB L3 Cache and each of the cores runs at 2.3 GHz. It reaches 3.3 GHz at the Turbo Boost.Β Β The RAM memory is a whole 8GB DDR3 at 1600MHz. And the harddisk β a whole TB. The graphics are supported by an NVIDIA GeForce GT 646M video card. And this really makes the Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 as suitable for working as for gaming.Β
